Abstract

Mooring systems are widely used in offshore floating production
systems for stationing vessels. Multi-component catenary mooring
system is one of the most important types used due to its topological simplicity and vessel’s motions stiffness preferable characteristics. In this study, an implicit iterative solution of catenary equations was used to analyze a multi-component catenary mooring system. The nonlinear force-excursion relationships for three analysis models: positive, negative and vertical excursions were evaluated. The effects of seven design parameters were investigated on the behavior of a multi-component mooring line.
