Abstract
Wood is used for the manufacture of a multiplicity of valuable products. The growing scarcity of wood due to the
increased demand has made it prohibitively costly. The use of traditional timber from forests is also non-sustainable.
Rubberwood is available from spent rubber trees in plantations in South India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and other places.
This paper presents the results of a study on the strength and durability of treated rubberwood. The durability of
rubberwood treated with different preservatives and physical properties of rubberwood were studied and the results are
reported.
