Abstract
This work aims to investigate the effect of cumulative crosstalk in a 5 wavelength channel system with 51 equally spaced RF channels having sub-carrier frequencies in the range 50-550 MHz. The crosstalk is attributed to different mechanisms viz., laser clipping, dispersion induced composite second order (DICSO) distortion, self-phase modulation (SPM) induced CSO distortion, stimulated Raman scattering (SRS), cross-phase modulation (CPM) and four-wave mixing (FWM). Results are compared for standard fiber as well as non-zero dispersion shifted fiber (NZDSF). Significance of external modulation with standard fiber has been emphasized.
