Abstract

Availability of reliable fouling models is important for the accurate simulation of heat exchanger networks (HENs) influenced by fouling. The fouling models play an important role in the optimization of cleaning schedule of HEN. A model with the least number of parameters and that requires minimum computational load is preferred as compared to the theoretical or semi-theoretical models in the cleaning schedule optimization problem. This paper present
Keywords: s the development of empirical models for an industrial HEN using the plant operating data. The fouling models are developed and shown to describe the fouling resistance over time in a crude preheat train with reasonable accuracy.
