Abstract

‘Petronas Gas Station Fuel Consumption Forecast System’ is to build an expert system prototype that replicates the task of Petronas gas station manager in forecasting fuel consumption. Accurate forecast is important when the manager places order for new supply of fuel from Petronas Dagangan because it ensures correctness of the amount and date of delivery. At the moment, manager relies on intuitive judgment when making the forecast. An inexperienced manager may not be able to interpret the factors and make inaccurate forecast. The scopes of study are to understand how manager makes forecast; to represent the knowledge in programming; and to produce a prototype system. The project will focus on Batu Gajah Petronas gas station as the subject of study. The methodology applied will be structured interview with the manager to understand the process and to design and develop a prototype using artificial intelligence. Finding will show that the prototype is capturing the human manager’s skill of making forecast.
