Abstract
The effects of manganese on the physicochemical properties and catalytic performance of cobalt-based catalyst in a Fischer-Tropsch (FT) reaction were examined. The catalysts were prepared by a wet impregnation method on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) support. The FT reaction was carried out in a fixed-bed microreactor at H2/CO=2 v/v, T = 543K and P = 20 atm for 5h. Incorporation of 30wt% Mn into Co catalyst improved the reducibility and dispersion of the cobalt catalyst by 11 and 29%, respectively. The 70Co:30Mn/CNTs catalyst enhanced the C5+ hydrocarbons selectivity by a factor of 32% and decreased the methane selectivity by a factor of 33% compared to that of Co/CNTs catalyst.
