This paper presents the dispersion of buoyant solid spherical particles injected through a round
vertical liquid water impinging jet onto a cylindrical bath. The air is entrained in the form of
bubbles and interacts with the injected particles. The primary flow behaviour is validated against
experimental LDV (Laser Doppler Velocimetry) data (Khan, 2003). Taking the advantage of
axisymmetric domain, computational models of the primary and particulate flow (discrete phase
model, DPM) are solved by finite volume method, FVM, using a commercial CFD software
FLUENT. The detail experimental study for similar cases is very difficult in terms of measuring
the particle velocity and interaction with the liquid.
