Abstract

In-Car Maintenance System is aimed to assist and ease car users in maintaining their cars. A well maintained car may prevent any serious damages to the engine or other parts of the car thus reducing the probability of accidents or breakdowns. The problem of maintaining a Proton Waja car is there is no indicator or warning in terms of a signal to remind car users that the mileage of their car is approaching time for service or already due to be serviced. The objective of the proposed In-Car Maintenance System is to give car users alert message when their car is approaching the mileage for service. The In-Car Maintenance System is installed in the CarPC which is integrated with a Global Positioning System (GPS). It is a system that extracts the mileage information of the car using a GPS and alerts the driver of the next service that need
to be done. The proposed In-Car Maintenance System is an experimental system that is developed only for Proton Waja cars.
