Abstract

A low velocity diffusion Hydrogen 'HZy flame experiment is modeled in this work using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) approach. The coupling between chemistry and flow dynamics is complex phenomena. New empirical model of the chemical reaction rate and a new turbulence diffusion model are proposed and introduced to the LES equations. As for the chemical reaction, the new empirical correlation of Arrhenius constant is based on the gas non-equilibrium distribution function. The new model of the turbulence diffusion contributes to a change in the filter width function at the subgrid scale (SGS). The modified filter function is based on the solution of Bolkmann equation in the non-equilibrium state. The models could develop the initiation of the Hz diffusion flame at the early time. The flame was then reproduced and propagation happened through time with no extinction. The models succeeded to stabilise the HZ diffusion flame by depicting the vortical structures and their mixing process with chemistry.
