Abstract
This paper presents the modeling, simulation and optimal design of a tubular permanent magnet linear generator for wave energy. The machine is modeled using 2-D software CATIA and the results from simulation studies using finite element analysis ANSYS are presented. The simulated generator develops a 3-phase voltage from the finite element analysis. An evolutionary optimization technique, Scatter Search is used to derive the optimal parameters of the linear generator minimizing the losses.
