Abstract

This paper reports the results of an
investigation carried out to understand the influence of a
Microwave Incinerated Rice Husk Ash (MIRHA) on the
hydration process of foamed concrete. The experimental
work was designed using the Taguchi method for
optimization purposes. The loss on ignition method was
used to determine the non-evaporable water (NEW)
contents at various ages of hydration namely 3, 7, 28, 90,
and 180 days. It was observed that 5% MIRHA foamed
concrete showed higher NEW contents than the plain
foamed concrete, indicating that MIRHA facilitated
enhancement in foamed concrete hydration.
