Abstract

The flow over large-scale backward facing step was studied numerically and experimentally. Numerically, steady two-dimension turbulent (k- model) Navier Stokes equations were solved to predict the velocity components. Experimentally, a flying hot wire was used to measure the axial and normal velocity components, Reynolds stresses and the turbulent intensity. A good agreement was obtained between experimental and numerical results. The research concentrates on the separation points with different step high.
